Generic Zyvox (linezolid) is an antibiotic that is made to treat severe bacterial infections. Generic Zyvox stop the growth and spread of bacterial infections that cause complicated skin infections and pneumonia. Generic Zyvox is best known for treating bacterial infections that did not respond to other antibacterial medications. Generic Zyvox does not work to treat viral infections such as the flu or common cold.

Side effects

  • Pain or weakness in the muscles
  • Problems breathing
  • Stomach pains
  • The combination of nausea and vomiting
  • Decelerated or usual heart rate
  • Dizzy feeling
  • Extreme fatigue
  • Exhaustion or weakness.

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience even the slightest symptoms of lactic acidosis.

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following serious side effects:

  • Spontaneous bruising or bleeding
  • Pale skin
  • Accelerated heart rate
  • Diarrhea, especially if it contains water or blood
  • Fever, child or other flu like symptoms
  • Disorientation, memory loss, hyperactivity
  • Lightheadedness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Muscle spasms, twitches, or jitters
  • Tingling, numbness or a burning feeling in the hands or feet
  • Uncontrollable shivering
  • Excessive perspiration
  • Body aches
  • Vision impairment
  • Low blood sugar levels and related symptoms
  • Seizures

Less serious side effects associated with Generic Zyvox include:

  • Nausea, vomiting or constipation
  • Headache
  • Dizzy feeling
  • Insomnia
  • Unusual taste in the mouth
  • Vaginal itching or unusual discharge
  • Yeast infection in the mouth

  • Aged cheeses
  • Meats that have been aged, fermented, pickled, air-dried or smoked.
  • Soy sauce
  • Sauerkraut
  • Red wine or tap beer

Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or plan on becoming pregnant before taking this medication.

Drug interactions

Consult your doctor if you have used any MAO inhibitor within the last 14 days before taking Generic Zyvox.
