Generic Maxaquin (Lomefloxacin) is an antibiotic medication that is classified under the heading of fluoroquinolones. How to take

Take Generic Maxaquin with a full glass of water, and continue to hydrate throughout the day while taking this treatment. This medication may be taken with or without food. Generic Maxaquin is generally taken once daily. Contact your doctor for the precise instructions that apply to you.

Do not stop taking this medication without first speaking to your doctor, as suddenly halting treatment may worsen your condition.

Side effects

Always read the ingredients before taking this or any other medication to ensure that there are no elements that may elicit an allergic reaction. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following side-effects associated with an allergic reaction: hives, shortness of breath, swelling of the lips, tongue, throat or face.

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following serious side effects:
liver damage, disorientation, hallucinations, jaundice, nausea, pain or discomfort in the abdomen, spontaneous or unusual bleeding or bruising, drowsiness, muscle pains, joint pain or seizures.

Less serious side effects associated with Generic Maxaquin include:
diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, lightheadedness, fatigue, headaches, increased sensitivity to sunlight or ringing in the ears.

Precautions

kidney disease, epilepsy, seizures.

Drug interactions

Do not combine Generic Maxaquin with the following medications, unless advised otherwise by a trusted doctor:
any antacids containing aluminum and magnesium (including Rolaids and Tums), any ulcer medicine sucralfate.

Do not take any medicine that contains iron or zinc for 2 hours prior or following Generic Maxaquin treatment.

Always inform your doctor of any medications you are taking (including vitamins, herbal supplements, and over the counter medications) before embarking on a new treatment. Additional medications not listen here may interact negatively with your medication.

Missed dose

Do not take more than your recommended dosage. You may take a missed dose up to 2 hours past your regular dose time. Do not take additional doses if you have missed your schedule by over 2 hours.

Storage

Keep Generic Maxaquin in a cool, dry place away from heat and moisture. Dispose of any unused medication past the point of expiry. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
